School Starts!

After a two month action packed vacation, Belmont Boys' Secondary R.C. opened this week for the new academic year 2007-2008. Lots of infrastructural work occurred as well as some interesting changes to our human resource profiles. More changes are coming to Belmont Boys' over the next three months as the Ministry of Education and the school move in partnership to make things happen...

Some infrastructural changes
  • the completed school wall and gate
  • the acquisition of new furniture for Forms 1-3
  • a totally new staff room for teachers
  • repainting of the buildings around the courtyard
  • reconditioning of our flagpoles - for the first time in years, our school flag flies alongside the national flag

1: June: the wall is halfway there...

2: July: almost done...

3: The shed is back up

Further physical improvements planned for this term include:
  • improvement works on light and ventilation in Forms Three and Four
  • construction of an eating area behind Forms 1-3
  • construction of a stage in the auditorium
  • reconditioning the Art Room
  • a mini cafeteria
  • Our Mega Project: the construction of a mezzanine floor in the Catholic News building on our grounds for the resurrection of our much awaited School Library and Multimedia Centre
In terms of Human Resource, we welcome two new assistant teachers to our school, Mr.Phillips and Ms. Mutroo, as well as Clerical Assistants Mr. Hypolite and Ms. Kobie. We welcome especially our Form 1 intake of 75 students, the smallest group in decades, purposely resized to alleviate the chronic overcrowding and congestion in our lower school. Most of our Form 1 students attended a one month Orientation Camp here at BBSS, preparing them for the transition from the Primary to Secondary level.

Lot to happen at BBSS still!
