On Wednesday 25th January and again on Friday 3rd February 2006 we were honoured to host Mr. Wayne Luces, one of the pioneers of Rugby at BBSS. In 1967, Wayne Luces was both the Captain and Manager of our school’s rugby team, as well as a founding member of the National Schools Rugby Board at age 17. Under his guidance, we won the first School’s Knockout Rugby championship in 1969.
Over the past three decades, Wayne has visited his alma mater to offer support to our school Rugby programme and school Calypso as well; two challenge trophies donated by Wayne speak to his dedicated interest in both fields.
Wayne interacted with our Rugby players and calypsonians, captivating them with his sound advice and inspirational life story. On his second visit, he graciously treated them all to lunch in the school library.
His latest visits were coordinated by Justice Gregory Rousseau, another old boy of BBSS and an avid supporter of our Rugby efforts.
We are immensely grateful for his support and time spent with our boys, and we look forward to seeing him again soon!
